Windows 21 -24 Twelve Martyrs and confessors of Faith (Note – the little angels singing and holding bagpipe, harp, recorder, portative organ, shawm, lute and helicon)Window 21(above the pulpit) From left to right:1. St Dorothy with palm and wicker basket. 2. St Sebastian pierced with eight arrows. 3. St Agnes with lamb.
Window 22From left to right:1. St Catherine with sword pointing to the head of Maxentius (constructed 1995 from fragments with new head and shoulders) 2. An archbishop, probably St Thomas of Canterbury. 3. St Margaret emerging from the back of a dragon. Window 23: Sainted RulersFrom left to right:1. Royal saint, probably St Edward, king and martyr. 2. An Emperor saint, probably Henry of Bamburg, with orb and sword. 3. A nimbed (with halo) king probably intended for Henry VI. Window 24: Sainted PriestsFrom left to right:1. A cardinal, probably St Bonaventura, with book and cross. 2. A pope with his hands joined in prayer and his cross leaning against the crook of his right arm. 3. A cardinal, possibly St Peter Damian. |
